Morocco

In the fall of last year Roger and I were lucky enough to head over to Morocco for 10 days. We spent 7 days in the ancient city of Marrakech and then spent 3 nights in Essaouira on the Atlantic coast.

The trip had many exciting firsts for us. It was our first time touching African soil, it was our first time traveling together overseas (crazy to believe since we've been together for 4 years!) and best of all, for Roger it was his first time in a country whose culture is so different than our own. I had so much fun watching Roger walk around with a giant grin on his face while he soaked it all in. Roger quickly learned a touch of Arabic, became a master at bartering, and made friends with the locals everywhere we went.

The things we remember the most about being there are the delicious food, especially the incredible olives and nuts, eating yummy kebabs and fresh bread in the stalls of the huge main square of Marrakech, the haunting beauty of the muslim call to prayer 5 times a day, drinking lots of mint tea and fresh OJ, the amazing history everywhere we looked, happily getting lost every time we wandered through the massive souks (markets) of Marrakech and the breathtakingly beautiful sunsets over the Atlantic.
It was a wonderful, wonderful trip. We hope you enjoy the photos.
I'm so glad that we have this blog so we can share them with all of you.

Holly

Cool pics, you two. I especially like the sunsets and the one of Roger on the monkey's shoulder. K

There must be something in the air over there. Every picture I see of that country makes me drool with envy. (Well, maybe not Babel). Beautiful pictures Holly. You sure these aren't covers from National Geographic. JT
